"But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15

Potty Training

This was not as bad as I thought it would be, but it has nothing to do with excellent parenting and more with my child. The first two days were disasters, she pee-peed on the floor about 4 times, once right next to the potty, but then it got better. After about 4 days she was telling us she had to go to the potty and only having one accident a day in her pull ups. Most of the time at school her wets were because she waited to late to make it to the potty. Now that summer school is over she has been in panties and only in pull ups at night. I am so proud of her!! because I really did not do anything other than ask her 8 million times a day does she need to go to the potty. Her faces of utter disgusted when I would ask her. It was like a preview of teenage years. She would look at me like "woman I already told her I don't need to potty, I just went 5 mins ago." Fast Forward to September (yes can you believe it is September because I can not) she is in panties all the time and our goal of going to school potty trained looks like it will happen! She starts school tomorrow :).

Beach Trip and New School

Olivia Grace ended school thinking she was much older than she was. She is very good with names she can tell me all the kids names and teachers names. She did not get this from me, I am horrible with names. But the big news is the beach trip with the Humphries or really Mary Florence (muppet as OG called her until just recently). We had such a great time with Lindsey and Todd and her parents. The weather was great and the water was so beautiful. The girls had such a great time playing with each other in the fort (bunk beds) and the pool. Olivia Grace is defiantly not afraid of water and will just jump right in and wants to "swim" herself. Will got her a puddle jumper and it is wonderful, she is able to be in the pool without us holding her. We still pray for Mary Florence and bebe so they apparently made a big impression. I was very impressed with how well the girls played together.
When we got back it was time to start her new school for the summer. Olivia Grace went to her "new school" all summer. The good thing was Mary Florence was in her class so Olivia Grace played with her everyday. If you asked her what she did at school "played MarieFloorce" (trying to spell it the way she said it).
June was also about the time Olivia Grace started her Cajun phase... meaning she turned into a Saints Fan. "Who Dat" "What Dat" is her favorite thing to say other than "Why". She is learning and catching on to things that I never thought she would. She is just amazing!!

Aunt JoJo's Wedding- Part B

So now back to the reason for us being at the beach...the wedding. After a meeting with the families we were able to go to sleep and start the wild day over. Olivia Grace got to go the beach for a little while on Friday, which she loved. Then we had rehearsal and then dinner. Olivia Grace did well with the practice but that was mainly because Anne Wright was able to hold her hand during the procession. Dinner was very nice and very good but Olivia Grace had pretty much eaten all her dinner and her snacks before the night's events really got started. I took her home early because she was over it and I knew that when it came time for speeches she would feel like she needed to have her moment and this was not about her. She was asleep in the care before I even got out of the parking lot. The next day was the BIG day and Olivia Grace got to spend some time with JoJo and then off she went to get ready. Luckily she was able to get a nap so she was in a decent mood for the pictures. When we arrived at the house in Sea Side where the bridal party was getting ready Olivia Grace was in awe of all the pretty dress and ladies and thought Aunt JoJo was a princess. She just kept following them around like "hey mom can you leave me I am one of them". She was able to get in some pictures and watch the girls.
Unfortunately when it came time for the wedding to start she had become very clingy to me and would not let me leave the waiting room. I was able to sneak out but when it came down to the moment we had been practicing for she was not ready. So back to how I began the post she was standing back there terrified and tears silently falling down her face (glad it was silent) and I jumped up after Anne Wright made it down to grab her up. So I became part of the wedding (which I was not happy about) and we sat in the back. The ceremony was so beautiful!! We took some pictures and headed to the reception. The reception I would say was the highlight of the weekend for Olivia Grace because she and Ava (her cousin) pretty much thought it was their party. They danced and danced and danced. They got the party started while the adults talked and ate and if her parents would have let her Olivia Grace would have partied until it was over. But we left before it was over and Olivia Grace was out by the time we got her in her car seat. She talked and talked about the party and the beach for weeks. Of course the way she remembered it she actually made it all the way to the front of the chapel when she was the flower girl. :)

Aunt JoJo's Wedding- Part A the Fall

The wedding month for Aunt JoJo!! Olivia Grace was asked to be the flower girl in Aunt Jo Jo's and Uncle Bretts wedding. We practiced and practiced but unfortunately when it came to the moment of the big day she was terrified. In fact after the week we had had I really teared up when I saw her standing in the back of the church terrified and tears rolling down her face. Luckily Anne Wright was a professional flower girl and she was able to cover the ground for the two of them. Aunt JoJo looked absolutely beautiful and the wedding and reception was fabulous and such a wonderful event. BUt lets go back to the beginging...
We came down to the beach early early thursday morning for the wedding. We had been in sea side for about 1 hour and we were ready to go to the beach. I wanted to change her diaper before we left she came running around the corner and FELL HARD! Hit her face (actually eye area) so hard on the corner of the pullout trundle that I had not even picked her up yet and Grammy, PawPaw, and Aunt Jo Jo were in the room. Olivia Grace was screaming and blood was streaming down her face. The wound was dented in so we headed to the hospital, luckily Uncle Brett's family made some calls and we were able to see a plastic surgeon later on in the day. We still went to the emergency room, because I was not going to be okay until someone saw her now. They saw her very fast and said that she would need stitches so we waited until we could get to Brett's family friends that was a Plastic Surguren. When we got to the Plastic Surgeon they saw Olivia Grace right away again and cleared out the office since she was going to scream. We were sent back to the front to wait because it would be easier on them not to have crying mom in the room. They had to tie her down and give her several shots and she ended up have a deeper gash than they first realized. In fact later on the nurse told me that when then went to clean the cut the q-tip went all the way back to the upper eye bone. I don't know much but that just sounds horrible to me haha. She ended up having 8 stitches and was traumatized. Will and I held it together unfortunately Aunt JoJo who already had too much on her plate with getting married and all in two days now had her little niece sobbing with a big band aid on her eye. I of course lost it in the car but she was fine then haha. After that any movement she made everyone was on pins and needles. We were so blessed that Brett's family knew doctors in town because her scar is very miniumal now.

Feburary 2011

The BIG 2nd Birthday!! I can hardly believe I have a two year old (actually now almost 2 1/2) she is growing up so much and so fast! Around this time Olivia Grace really started talking her vocabulary seemed to triple on her 2nd birthday. All that worrying as to why she only says a few things haha. We had a low key birthday this year and celebrated Aunt Nacys, Mom-moms, Olivia Grace's, and what would have been my Gran-Grans 80th birthday party at the same time. It was Yo-Yo Gabba Gabba themed which I know the adults loved but it was fun. She was more into eating her cake this year and really had a great time opening her gifts :).

Funny Sayings: "Hold you" (meaning hold me). We thought she might have thought she was Jamaican because she seemed to add ay-o to words that require no such ending. Like Gabba -dayo??

Her two year old check up went good she is taller now and met all the requirements for this age. She is still a little bigger in the weight category than others her age but that just means she is eating well :).

Where have we been???

Well that questions is a bit more complicated than I would like for it to be. Our life, has most poeple's lives tend to be, has become hectic, busy, and very different. I would love to blog and as therapeutic has it was at one time, now seems to be something that just hung over my head and then I just ignored it all together. I do want to get started again but on a much slower pace meaning maybe a big update every so often, because until things slow down some time is just not here for me to do this. Why so hectic you ask? Well unfortunately my grandfather past away from cancer in January and went to be with the Lord. Let me clarify the "unfortunately" that is for me and my family. I was very close to my gran-gran and miss him terribly every single day but he is in a FAR better place and I will see him again some day. With his passing, a much larger responsibility has been placed upon me at work so time to write as not been there, then my computer decided to quit on me so writing at home not happening either. On top of all of that Will's job has required him to travel lots so single momming it has taken writing on the blog to zero on the list of things to do. Saying all that I did want to update because this is the only form of a baby book I have been keeping. The next few post will be a fast month to month post updating the life of Olivia Grace, I will post pictures to the post soon!!

Christmas 2010

A White Christmas!! We had a wonderful Christmas spent with family and a few snow flakes. We are so blessed!! Olivia Grace once again got way too much for Christmas and once again the grandparents out did Santa and her parents :). She is going through bit of a shy phase and having family all around her was a bit overwhelming not to mention Christmas eve day she did not get a good nap in so that night was a little much for her. However shy and moody she may have been she still managed to convince my family members to give her fudged and cookies through out the night and open several gifts. of course she loved singing Happy Birthday to Jesus because that meant cake for her. After a fun night with with my family we traveled the 3 mins home and she was passed out. When we were changing into her pjs she woke up enough for us to sprinkle the reindeer food, put out and attempt to eat Santa's cookies, and read about the birth of Jesus.

The next morning GiGi, Rocky, Uncle Jon, Aunt Nancy, Uncle Tom, and Aunt Da where there to see Olivia Grace open more gifts and check out Santa's gifts. Of course yet again we were shy and not really sure what was going on. After awhile she did open up a bit and check out all her goodies. Later that afternoon Grammy, PawPaw, Aunt JoJo, and Uncle Brett came over to have Christmas time together. Olivia Grace loved seeing all of them and the presents that they had for her :). After an exciting day she went down for a long nap and woke up to mom and dad trying to get some older "baby" toys put away but Olivia Grace would not have any of that! Since then she has not played with her new toys she only wants to play with her baby toys haha. I was super busy as all parents are on Christmas morning so I did not get very many photos but Will did video several highlights so that is perfect. Other family members had photos so I will have to get them from them later. Another wonderful year!!!
